Description

Not Another Fairy Tale: Finding Freedom Outside The Script is a personal story of God’s faithfulness through trial and difficulty. Through storytelling, experience, and Biblical truth, Ashley shares her story of redemption from brokenness to wholeness.

What happens after the credits roll? What happens when your life doesn’t play out according to the script? You know, the “and they lived happily ever after” script. What do you do when life shatters; when people and circumstances leave you with disappointment and pain?

Ashley Watts struggled with these questions and more after a life-altering moment left her with dashed hopes and dreams and in brokenness that looked beyond repair. But she also discovered that even in life’s deepest disappointments, there’s a loving God ready to provide hope for your future and healing to your soul. In Not Another Fairytale, Ashley invites us into her own journey of faith, with courage and vulnerability, and helps us to see our identity is found in Jesus, not in perfect “scripts and scenes.” Whether we’re dealing with daily trials or life-altering events, we can find rest in knowing we are destined for a love that heals, restores, and never rejects.

This book has met me right where I’m at! Although my journey does not match the same experience the author has gone through, I still found it to speak to my heart through my own journey. This is full of relatable feelings, biblical truths, and true encouragement. The author also really encourages action based changed – it’s not just a “feel good” read, it’s an “I see you and let’s move through this together” read. I highly recommend this, especially if you’re feeling like you’re in an “in-between” season of life.

I believe everyone can learn something from this book. Life never looks like how we had it all planned out in our heads. Although our stories are all a little different, the author is truly relatable and brings you along her journey. This story gave me hope and actionable steps to remind me that God is in control and truly knows and loves us even in our broken state. This book will be one that I will read through every year as I know I will always need to be reminded of what is truly important.

Whether you notice or not we’re all telling ourselves some sort of fairy tale in life. The author’s words are real, raw and relevant to the fairy tale I have been striving for. The healing through the truth of God’s word she’s experienced, lived and shared with us in this book is for me and it’s for you too! I think you’ll find it easy to see your story within hers and find healing, encouragement and hope.

This book created so many amazing moments of personal reflection. Each page has incredible wisdom that regardless your experience and struggles you may be facing you will walk away feeling as if you have been seen, heard, and understood. Although her personal story, the insight in this book is for everyone, the markings on every page of mine prove it.

I couldn’t recommend Ashley’s book enough! The vulnerability and truth shared in these pages helped me own up and take action on the questions and emotions in my own life. Ashley’s story shows us how to do the inner work by letting God do the healing. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever questioned their identity, their self-worth, their purpose.

Not Another Fairy Tale spoke right to my heart with words of encouragement and truth. The author takes you through her real-life experiences, growth and trials as she learns to live her life residing in His truth: I am loved. I am chosen. I am enough. Full of Biblical truth, love and practical inspiration to guide you on your own personal journey of growth and discovery as you live your life as a child of the King.

Not many books are written with YOU in mind as the story of the author’s life is unfolded. This author takes you, the reader, with her into the story line. She shares how God’s Grace responds in the reality of our expressed weakness no matter what the weakness is. Grace will always draw near to us when we lift our weaknesses up to Holy Spirit. Always. As you read, Hope will arise as the anchor of your soul to see that the light, even a pinprick of light, is the radiating Light of Life that brings you hope in the darkness. See yourself in the pages of this book. See yourself loved by the One who created you, the One who knows you by name, the One who lives in you and will again establish your Path of Discovery of life…to life…to life. You will live again. There is hope in your story too.

This book is a wonderful road map of how to navigate through shattered dreams and low points in our journey of life. It is graciously written on how to find your true identity. I have suffered through similar pain as the author, and I wish I had had this book back then! This book is a must read for anyone who has experienced loss and betrayal.

I was delightfully inspired by this book. The author shares a compelling story with wisdom beyond her years. She very astutely exposes the flaws of the American fairy tale culture that can so easily undermine the development of a healthy identity, even in a young girl nurtured by a loving family grounded in faith in Jesus. Ashley leads the reader through a healthy journey of seeking and finding her identity in Christ – a truth applicable to any age. There are so many profound nuggets of wisdom for any reader to ponder and apply toward a richer, God-focused life. She tests the timeless words of the Bible she grew up reading and discovered anew how powerful and true they are! Read this book. It will enrich your life.

This book is incredible! Ashley is transparent throughout the entire book. She shares the difficult seasons of life she has gone through and how God’s faithfulness brought her through them. The book is inspirational and encouraging no matter what you are walking through. Ashley’s story is a testimony that God does work everything for good, even when everything seems to be falling apart. I had difficulty setting this book down; it felt like we were having a face-to-face conversation the entire time! I would encourage you to read this!

What’s most evident from reading Ashley’s book is her true transformation from a dark, shaken state to a solid foundation. And what drives her book is the passion she has for her readers to know, understand, and experience the same truths that have set her free.

I love that this book is applicable to really anyone in any season of life because who the Lord says we are is eternal and unchanging. As you journey through her book, Ashley walks you through her process of deconstructing toxic self-talk and reorienting herself to God’s image-bearing design. While first speaking in generalities, Ashley provides more detailed examples of this from her own life, as well as practical steps to get you started on your own path to healing.

Reading this book was a pleasant experience. Ashley writes as if she is talking to a friend, which I believe is how she intended it to be! Enjoy!
